  • Public Services Ombudsman - How do you frame your complaint

Does anyone have any experience in raising an action to the Public Services Ombudsman, or even better the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman? It looks very likely that this is the next venture I will be heading out on.

I am looking for advice on what matters are appropriate to reference as the impact of a public service failure and how close this needs to be in context to the subject of the failure. What I am trying to say find out is if it is appropriate to include consequential matters not directly part of the original failure?

    Hi Magrew,

I would have thought it was relevant to include details of consequential matters arising from the original failure. By this, if, as a consequence of the failure, something adverse happened, then, yes, it is both appropriate and relevant to include this in any report. You highlight the failure and then what happened as a consequence of that failure.

I think it needs to be referred through your MP / MSP.

I would include details of all consequentai loss, quantifying those which are financila, and detailing those which are non-financial, eg personal injury
