hi guys, sorry this is my first post but i could really do with some advice as I'm a little worried........

ok, so i privately sold a bottom end of a car engine roughly 5-6 months back that i had built and i never used so it was like new.
so around 5-6 months later the buyer contacts me, telling me he has only just began using it and its faulty.

now normally i pride myself on doing the right thing.... but i can't help but feel a lot coulda happened in this time that could of caused a issue with it.

am i obliged to do anything? I'm getting the impression he's going to try the legal route

    cheers guys

To be honest, I don't think the guy you sold the engine to has got much of a case. The fact he left it 5-6 months before he started using it means that he has accepted it. If he had come back to you within 28-56 days (1/2 months) complaining about any faults, he may have had a case.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.

As it was a private sale, there is bugger all he can do through the courts as the Sale of Goods Act does not apply.

What did you do with the top half of the engine?

Basically he used his top half of his old engine, quite a common thing to do really

                How?

Did it become the base for a glass-topped coffee table, or a garden planter?
