  • car insurance premium rip off ,petition, pleas help

    hi everybody,

i went on a price comparison website to buy car insurance for my mother, six months before a nutter drunk smashed into her car, she made a claim. when i tried to get her insurance online i noticed that they ask if you have made a claim wether at fault or not. as she had made a notat fault claim i had to tick the box, which DOUBLED her premium. i have since noticed that all insurance brokers are doing this on behalf of the 5 or six car insurers in britain, it seems they have collaberated.

they say it is because of bogus claims they are having to do this, but my mothr wasnt bogus, she had a broken forearm.

this action by them is unfair and should not be allowed, think about it, we could all be in this position (the accident) and through no fault of our own be penalised.

i have set up a government e-petition, so far it is just me.

please sign anf we can end this injustice. it is under the topic

stop car insurers collaberation in raising premiums on drivers with a previous non-fault claim

the link is stop car insurers collaberation in raising premiums on drivers with a previous non-fault claim - e-petitions

    THANK YOU AND REGARDS

you should also petition them to stop processing insurance accounts with the credit reference agencies as well. As far as I'm concerned paying my car insurance on a monthly not an annual basis is not a line of credit.

Hi, As an ex insurance company worker I have to tell you all that unfortunatly this is standard. The reason the premium would have "doubled" or increased is that although the accident wasnt her fault, IF her insurer has not been able to recover the costs from the other side (ie the drunk driver - were they insured for a start?) then they have to hold your mother (or policy holder) liabel for their costs. HOWEVER, if they are able to recover their costs from the other insurance comapny they will then refund her the over paid premium (or should!!) - how long ago was the accident? was the other driver insured etc?

I love sites like this lol, getting loads of advise on issues i've had an being able to help with insurance issues

I also found http://www.complaintsfactory.co.uk/forum a very helpful site as well

        I have signed the petition.
My renewal quote was nearly £200 more than last year. I couldn't believe it.
The agent said premiums had risen between 25%-45% due to personal injury claims.
I have never made a personal injury claim so why should my premium go up?
I had my car vandalised this year and had to claim so I was expecting it to be a little higher.

The insurance companies in the UK are running a cartel. I was talking to my girlfriend about giving up on our car as it is just too expensive to run now.

Hmmm, as far as i am aware, when you spread your payments basically a 3rd party pays your premium in advance, and you pay back with interest each month.
The 3rd party may well be a subsidiary company of the same mob, but i am pretty sure thats how it works
