    Hi All,

Wondering if anyone can help me with a dilemma over a magazine subscription...

I bought a three month subscription to Kerrang as a Christmas gift in Dec 09.

It was sold as a Three Month Subscription. There were options of 6 month/12 month etc.

At no point when I ordered this on greatmagazines.co.uk did it flash up that what they were actually selling me was a quarterly subscription, and not a one off.

I've just found out this person is still getting the magazine, and I'm still paying for it every three months (£18). It means I've unknowingly paid an extra £108 pounds for magazines. (Feeling silly for not checking bank statements - but as I say - why should I have to when I thought I was paying something one-off?)

They sent me a letter after I paid the initial £18 for the three month gift. I don't remember it saying anything about the subscription being a quarterly and that I'd have to actively stop it. Having spoken to customer services at Bauer yesterday, they claim all that information was in the letter. I've requested another copy - but they say they can't send it.

I've looked at their new offers on mags, but they no longer have the 3/6/12 month offers, so I have nothing to compare it against. Emails sent to me after I paid first of all - also don't have that kind of information on them. One of the emails has large chunks missing saying that information is no longer available.

I feel I've been scammed as I genuinely believed (and was not told otherwise) that the subscription was a single package.

I can't find anything to help me on the internet so far ... so am hoping you guys could? I have another showdown in the morning with one of their customer "services" managers.

    Thanks - with fingers crossed!

      Re: Magazine Subscriptions

What reason did they give you when they said they were unable to send a copy of the orginal letter.

If the product was advertised as £18 for a 3 month subscription then i would expect that you would only get 3 months worth of magazines. Otherwise it maybe misleading advertisement. Though according to the site terms each offer has its own terms and conditions.

I suspect you may have to send a Subject access request for all data they hold on you and for the original letter and terms and conditions of the offer itself.

If you paid by credit card, i would look into getting a charge back too. And putting the account with Bauer into dispute.
