Cartridge World have a loyalty card scheme. Get 6 stamps and you get a re-fill gratis. On the card it specifically says you get a stamp "* PER TRANSACTION." The card is generic and wasn't for an individual customer.

Re-filling my ink cartridges at my local Cartridge World cost me £8.95. So not all that cheap.

So me and o/h have a cartridge each. One loyalty card given us from previous 1 cartridge re-fill.

We pay for 1 cartridge. get the card stamped. We then ask for second cartridge to be filled as a separate transaction, and for the card to be stamped. Bloke in shop goes almost apopolectic with rage, ranting and screaming at us that we were "trying to be clever" and no he wouldn't stamp the loyalty card.

I pointed out it said quite claerly on the card "per transaction." Nothing about per visit or at shop keeper's discretion. Per transaction.

Anyway he refused to put on a stamp and we replied that he wouldn't be seeing two regular customers anymore. I refused to pay for second cartridge and saved my £8.95 for another shop.

The thing is, if o/h had waited outside and gone in after me, he'd have stamped it and had his £17.90 worth of business.

As it is he lost out on second re-fill and any future purchases by us. Perhaps "each transaction" does = "each visit" regardless of quantity of the purchases. But, as I say, if we had been as crafty as he was accusing us of being, we'd have just gone in separately!

      Re: Cartridge World

I was under the impression that Cartridge World shops were franchised?

Maybe this loyalty scheme was something introduced by Cartridge World and the franchisees are having to pick up the cost, which may explain why the particular store manager got in a fit?

Not that excuses such poor customer service of course!

maybe. not the first time these reward schemes have been poorly received by franchisees (anyone thats ever hired a car in the States should know what I mean - you get a book of vouchers that are unusable!)

but then maybe the store manager is just a prat.

...on the balance of probabilities its likely to be a bit of both

As we all know replacement cartridges are a rip-off especially if you use the printer manufacturer's ones! I have recently acquired a Canon printer which uses cartridges with a capacity of 10 ml each. Refills are in the region of £ 7 from Canon or £5 from the cheapest cartridge supplier I can find. I have acquired refillable cartridges for this printer and bottles of the appropriate inks so a refill costs me about 10p per cartridge!
I find that the cheapest third party cartridges I can get (which work) come from www.tonezoneuk.com. No offers (except free postge) but they are recommended. I have absolutely no connection with this organisation but have enjoyed excellent service for over 10 years (until I got my refillable cartridges that is).

          P.P.

Strange: I've just clicked on that link and it worked perfectly! If it still doesn't work when you try again, send me a private message and I will send you some more details. I don't think our moderators would appreciate any more advertising on the open forum.

Just had another thought: Is your browser adding the "http://" bit automatically like all mine do? Try http://www.tonezoneuk.com/ That might work.

Yep, worked for me as well. I've always found choicestationary.com good and have found a very good site on the internet (that auction site) who are very very cheap, but you need to buy in "bulk" - about 10 at a time.

Sorry admin if that's another post of mine reported!:tinysmile_grin_t:

I know all about Percy Pilcher! I visited the place where he died in Stanford Northamptonshire a few years back. There is a memorial to him in the field where the accident took place. If he'd lived HE would have been the first man to fly and not those pesky Yanks the Wright brothers!

Debt Star: When I was a kid, I watched a telly programme series about long lost artifacts. One of these was the lost play of Shakespeare (Love's Labour's won?). Another was on the lost engine of a certain Percy Pilcher who, had it not been lost would almost certainly have enabled him, as you say, to beat the Wright Brothers to be the first to fly a heavier than air powered aeroplane and indeed, he was British!
For some reason that name never left my memory and when, about 13 years ago t'internet started to become popular, I wanted to join a bulletin board for professional pilots as I had become one many years previously. It didn't take long to find The bulletin board for such individuals and the next thing I needed was a "nom de plume" Naturally I wracked my brains to find a suitable aviation style one as every other member had and after many tries, was amazed to find that P.Pilcher had not been selected by anyone else!
The name as, as far as I am concerned, stuck. I am now a mamber of many boards and always use this name except for one in teaching and one concerning a certain series of ancient computer games of which I am a fan.

                          Apologies for the thread creep.
