  • Damaged Property by Delivery Team

    Good Morning,

We had a Sofa delivered in October by Furniture Village, the delivery drivers pushed the sofa through our hallway and damaged our wooden flooring.

I wrote to FV and they passed the incident to their delivery team who advised they used a third party to deliver the sofa rather than their own teams, so they couldn't take any responsibility for the issue and they’ve said I will have to deal with the third party directly and they will have to claim from their insurance.

My argument is that my contract is with FV and not with the third party and they should be doing the leg work on this but I’m not really getting anywhere at the moment, just being passed from pillar to post and it’s been nearly three weeks since I raised the issue with them.

If anyone has any advise on how to proceed with getting this resolved quickly, it would be appreciated.

While your argument is understandable, FV may be able to dispute liability to you on the grounds that they used an 'independent contractor'. You need to get that third party's details and raise your claim with them.

There is also the possibility of a claim on your home insurance.
