  • I have been swindled by a 2nd-hand mobile repair shop.

3 months ago, I sold my 2 mobile phones and laptop to a 2nd-hand phone repair shop.
The man said he will pay me after a week (along with a receipt).

He didn't pay, nor did he ever give any receipt (as promised).

Since then, I have repeatedly visited his shop to ask him to pay me the money, and every time he has an excuse or says he won't pay me.
He has my bank account number and also says the transfer didn't work. He has tried every excuse under the sun.

I'm getting fed up and asked for my laptop & phones back, but he doesn't seem to have them and didn't give them back.

I checked companies house and it seems like a failing business, and he (last week) resigned as a director.

I believe he intentionally swindled me. He took my goods to sell in his shop and did not intend to ever pay me.

    What can I do?
    • I'm 76 and have a heart condition, this is causing me so much stress. Honestly, I even feel he should pay for my countless trips by bus to his shop, and for the stress caused to me.

Have you contacted your local Trading Standards Department and the police?

Sorry. I believe that he should pay, but getting the money will not be easy.

      Are you insured?
