  • Bank sent my bank statements to a third party (solicitor)

I took my bank on in a small claims case recently.

I discovered after obtaining a DSAR that they forwarded my entire banking history (every statement) to the solicitor, for some reason.

    Is this not highly illegal?

Do you mean the bank's solicitor?
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

The solicitor is their agent, not a third party. They are entitled to do this.

It is not highly illegal. Of course if you choose to sue a bank it is entled to instruct its solicitors and to provide them with full information to assist in its defence.
