I'm not sure I'm in the right place for this one so hopefully someone will tell me.
My daughter and her fiancé were at the advanced stage of buying their first house, there was no chain and the sellers had been agreeable right the way through the sale. My daughter signed the contracts last Monday and the sellers received the contract for signing on Wednesday. Thursday came and the sellers dropped a bombshell, they pulled out, citing two very poor excuses for doing so.
Given the advanced stage of the sale and the amount of money my first time buyer daughter and her boyfriend have spent do they have any legal recourse at all? They are, quite literally, thousands of pounds out of pocket and won't be able to look for another property for quite some time whilst they build back their money and given the recent base rate hike their mortgage offer will have run out long before they get that money back.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
