  • Lost coat to club cloak room

Hello there, i entrusted my jacket to the club (payed cloak room) and upon leaving the club and realising I didn’t have my jacket I went to get it back but the bouncer wouldn’t let me back in, asked if I had the ticket and they would collect it for me, in which I found I no longer had it. I then had to wait until the club shut to wait to see if it was left later for me to collect after everyone had left, 3 hour wait later and after giving a description for the jacket and it’s contents they said there was no coat found matching that description and at the end of the night, no coats left at all.

I have previously been reading through some previous advice given on this matter. However I have found little clarity on if now because I have lost the receipt for the coat being put into the cloak room I have no leg to stand on it ever going in? Or any further action?

I have contacted the club the following day also and they again informed me the coat couldn’t be found. As the coat is £270 in value and had £30 of charging bank in the pocket, I didn’t want to just write off the loss.

    Hi F5962

No doubt the club has CCTV footage outside / inside. Send / email the club a Subject Access Request, they should provide you with a copy of your entrance to the club, which will show you wearing your coat. Give them the time you arrived, plus any other helpful info etc.

Once you get that, then plan what to do next.
