My daughter moved into a shared house with some other trainee nurses last September, the main reason was to be closer to her college and the training hospital. On my advice she took out contents insurance, in December whilst on a late shift the house was broken into and most of her posessions were taken. She called the insurers and was told to submit her claim. This she did but they wanted more information. They wanted receipts for her laptop, which I had bought, I supplied them with that. They also wanted a receipt for her telephone, Orange were very slow in suppiying a duplicate, it actually took them two months. My daughter sent everything off only to be told that because she had not paid any of the installments on the insurance since the burglary that her policy had lapsed and they wont pay out.
Point 1, She was insured at the time of the burglary, can they refuse to pay out.
point 2, I have said I will pay the policy up to date and my daughter will carry on with the monthly payments, they are saying no.
Point 3, Can I take them to court because at the time of the burglary she was insured and they are witholding the payout?
Thanks for any imput.
