recently went on holiday and in the airport unfortunately lost my phone , luckily the phone was handed into lost property.
on return to the airport a few days later i returned to collect my phone. they showed me the phone and asked for a £20 recovery fee?
is there any law backing this up?
1) are they obliged to give this to me for free with persuasion and refusal to pay since it is my property?
2) is there any law to prevent me from taking my property back from them? eg.... the phone was on the counter before being handed to me and i just took it and walked away...
3) if i were to ask them to hand me the phone to "check it was actually mine" and then walk off without paying.... is there anything from lawfully preventing me from doing this since it is my property, they handed it back to me and i signed no contract for this absurd fee?
