  • New Motorcycle badly corroded after 6 weeks

I recently purchased a brand new Triumph Bonneville T120 in December 2020.

The motorcycle was rode back from the dealers (approx 4 miles ) and for one ride out with others (approx. 80 miles). When I returned to the bike approx. 2 weeks after the ride I found the alloy of the engine very badly corroded and pitted, see attached photos (available on request as dont appear to be able to post photos) . At this point the motorcycle was approx 6 weeks old and had 127 miles on the clock.

On contacting the dealer and seeing the bike Triumph has rejected the issue pointing to the owners manual that states in bad weather the motorcycle should be washed and dried every time used.
I find this impractical and don't believe the statement that in the UK it can be archived.

The dealer has supported me and are putting the problem right but have said if I don't wash and dry every ride the problem will return.
Reading on the forums this is a very common problem with people pointing to various anti corrosion treatments, removing and painting etc etc.
All of these I dont believe should be needed on a brand new modern motorcycle.

    So a few questions ??

Is this a reasonable request to have to wash and dry EVERY use, or does this make the motorcycle not fit for us in the UK ??.
What If I leave the bike outside where it will cannot be dried or will get wet ??

If its not fit or the requirements are unreasonable can I return the vehicle now??, do I have to wait for the problem to return ?? or something else ??

Any help appreciated as was looking forward to the new motorcycle and now just have a left bad taste.

    Regards Gary
