  • Curry’s PC World issues

Hi big of a long one so I apologise in advance but any hep would be grateful

I am hoping some kind person might be able to help me with a horrible situation I’ve found myself in with regards to Curry’s PC World

We have a Samsung 4K 55” tv that was purchased in 2017 for £1500 with a 5 year warranty. The tv has been fantastic until the last few months when it’s started experiencing a number of issues

I called the curry’s Know how team on Sunday 11th October and explained all the issues and they agreed the tv was at fault and they would have to take the tv away for repair

I was very concerned about this as the tv is still like brand new no marks or scratches they assured me it would be fine and they advised me to take lots of pictures showing the condition just in case anything dose go wrong he then arranged for the collection drivers to collect the tv the following day on Monday the 12th October

The advisor also stated very clear that I am only to give the driver the tv and nothing else no stand no remotes nothing just the tv he also repeated it again before the call ended

The following day as agreed the driver and another person arrived to collect the tv unfortunately I was on a work call upstairs at the time and my partner had to answer the door. They came in with a cover for the tv but never used it and what I can’t believe is they took the tv out to the van in the rain with the cover under his arm and that was that

10 minutes later the door knocked and again my partner answered it and literally as soon as she opened the door the driver pushed his way through without being invited in knocking my partner back and walked straight into the living room ripping all the cables out of the Samsung one connect box. This box allows you to use the HDMI ports on the tv via this box.

My partner asked what he was doing and he replied I need the one connect box, my partner replied that she doesn’t think he should be taking it etc and he started getting a little cocky with her and raising his voice.

I heard this and instantly came down stairs literally as he’s walking outside with the box in his hand. I asked him what he was doing and again he said he needs the box or they won’t be able to test the tv. I explained the issues and the fact that the tv can be switched on with the standard plug and the connect box is not required to test the tv.

He then got all cocky with myself and said well here you go then take it they won’t repair it without it.

I simply very politely said if your going to take it can I please have a receipt for it as I was told not to give anything else to the driver other than the tv which I don’t think is to much to ask

He then goes crazy shouting and trying to slam the door walking out etc I followed him asking him why is he getting all lippy and walking out and he turned around and saying a load of rubbish etc about the tv will not be repaired etc and I’ll get charged for wasting their time

I then said well it’s pointless you taking the tv bring it back in oh my god he ran to the van smashing everything inside for a good 5-10 mins

He then brings the tv into the living room wrapped up in bubble wrap well most of it anyway and stormed off

Anyway that’s how it’s been left ever since I have absolutely no idea on what or if any damage has been done to my tv as I’m afraid to open the wrapping

The best bit about everything is it’s all caught on my CCTV with sound clearly showing the interaction and madness that happened

You can also see from the CCTV them taking the tv out in the rain and also the tv is still wrapped exactly as it was when they brought it back in

I instantly contacted the CEO of curry’s within minutes of it all happening etc on the 12th October and all
i have received is acknowledgement email saying how busy they are due to COVID and they will get to me soon it’s now been 7 days

all this while that crazy driver is going into peoples homes

I have also contacted the customer service team for help since while waiting for the ceo office and explained everything to them they were shocked and agreed it’s in black and white on the screen only the tv is to be collected and he should not have acted in the manner that he did. He then said a manager would call yet they never did

I called again on Thursday and this time it was a completely different person and opinion on the situation saying the only way to escalate the complaint was to allow them to collect the tv again and repair it like I’m going to let them back in my home again

I said I’m happy to take it to a store and they can unwrap it there and then but I’m not having them anywhere near my home. He was smashing everything around on the van and was absolutely crazy I am dreading taking the bubble wrap off and it’s probably also got water damage from the rain this is not my problem it’s curry’s. They stated the store wouldn’t allow the tv to be dropped off it would have to be collected and they would try and not get the same person to collect which I obviously refused and said I’d wait for the ceo team

So where do I stand legally ? Especially with curry’s ignoring my emails etc I’m getting nowhere and now 7 days with no tv during lockdown it’s horrible especially as a family of 6

so any help would be great to try and get this issue resolved

    Thanks

At least you're getting a response! Of sorts. Yes they are terrible, I had an issue that dragged on for 3 months, and that is even with CEO involvement

I have also had problems with this company. I have no idea what the best way forward is but am sure someone will come forward to help you. The only thing I can think of is a threat to put the video of their driver up on Twitter or FB or both unless the matter is resolved within a certain time. From what I have seen the biggest companies hate this kind of adverse publicity and you will often get a tweet back from them asking you to contact them to resolve the matter.

You are welcome - get back on twitter and tell the world they have not got back to you! My problem related to a laptop - Currys kept saying there as nothing wrong with it but there was. Sent for repair twice but stil faulty. In the end I went to the maunufacturer and managed to get them to take it to examine and lo and behold agreed it was extremely faulty and refunded my money.....
