  • Double Glazing contract

Hi all l need some urgent advice please we had three quotes for replacing four widows and decided to go with Safestyle UK ( I know big regret now.)
paid a deposit of £100 for the surveyer who
came on the 7th of July he also flagged up a potential problem with our largest widow which may require additional support. Had an date initially of July 31sr which was changed with no explanation to today times given between 8am to 2pm, no messages or contact of any problem .
Getting through to customer support was and is very difficult .Did eventually get through at just after four and was put through to someone in Peterborough. Apparently they had had problems with the first job and would be unable to do ours. No suggestions on when they could. Where do we stand on this? Mr DT has given them until Friday but not sure if I want to go ahead could they sue us for the balance or do we still have to give them a chance?

Your remedy lies in Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Under section 52 services have to be completed with a reasonable time (which will depend on the facts of the case).
Breach that term and you have the right to a price reduction (sec 54) as per the terms of sec 56.

So I would write to them telling them you now require a price reduction and you have now made time of the essence of the contract as per Mr Dt's instructions.
Failure will mean you regard the contract voided and you will require a refund of all you have paid.

Don't suppose they will give in easily but you are a beagle

Thank you, when I spoke with Customer services a price reduction was mentioned plus a call back which hasn't happened as yet, .
I did e mail them as well on the online form but reply states this could take 72 hours.

They finally arrived to fit them on Monday 7th August initially all seemed ok and operate as they should.
However the contract states that bed room windows should have fire escape hinges fitted and we were not shown how to operate these . I phoned Peterborough and given verbal instructions but the hinges fitted bear no resemblance to those on the actual fitting. I was given vague promise of a visit when they are in the area but feel this should be a priority given that a would be our only way out in an emergency. They seem very slow to respond ( 72 hour responce on e mail enquiry sent earlier) Phone lines open at 9am so going to try again What else can I do please. Payed via Cheque which is not showing as pending as yet.
Tried to phone the help line, on hold for nearly half an hour then it cut off. Contacted the my Bank and rightly or wrongly put a stop on the cheque. That should wake them up !
