  • What can I claim from the manufacturer (and seller) of faulty equipment

    Hello!

I would be grateful to hear your opinions on the following. I have in the past made a few claims through Money Claim Online but usually only claimed a refund.

I bought a magnetic filter for heating system at home and a few months later it started leaking water. The manufacturer who was also the seller collected the filter and issued a full refund confirming that it was a manufacturing fault. However the leak from the filter damaged the kitchen worktop (it was installed next to the boiler above kitchen worktop) & I had to pay a plumber to replace it with a new one.

Can I claim from the manufacturer of the faulty filter either the following:

    1. Plumber's fee to replace the leaking filter with a new one.

    2. Cost of replacing the kitchen worktop damaged by the leaking filter.

    Thank you

Hello, I think it would first depend on two thing but a few questions if you could answer will assist.

    1. What the terms and conditions were in relation to the sale of the filter.
    2. If the full refund was considered as full and final settlement.
    3. At what point you decided to tell them about the damage to the worktop, was it before or after they gave a full refund. If it was after, why did you not inform them beforehand?
    4. Did the sale of the filter cover the cost of a plumber fitting it? If not, you might be able to recover the fees.
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you
