  • Cabinet Doors.

    Evening,

    Recently I complained to a sole trader regarding bedroom furniture fitted ~2.5years ago.
    The high gloss vinyl wrap on certain parts of around ~£1500 of door / drawer fronts was literally falling off. This price was just for the fronts and did not include carcasses, fitting and associated items.

    The fitter / sole trader eventually responded and fitted replacements on the offending area / items. He explained that the manufacturer had had production problems at the time of their manufacture and he was performing remedial work to a lot his customers due to this specific issue on this specific type of door.

    I have sympathy for the fitter, who is a good guy, the issue obviously lies with the manufacturer who is also local. Subsequently more doors have been found to be faulty

    I have complained to the manufacturer - to cut a long story short, I suspect I may have to progress this to the small claims courts via Money Claim Online.

    I will contend the provided door/drawer fronts are 'not fit for purpose and do not show the quality and performance normal in products of the same type'. IE, the high gloss wrap falls off within their three year guarantee period !

    A few questions for you informed legal beagles;
    Are there any irregularities I must observe if my particulars of claim name the plaintiff as the door manufacturer, as opposed to the blameless fitter who I actually paid?
    The manufacturer says they provide a three year guarantee, however in the England, the legal guarantee duration is 6 years is it not? Is there case law or reference I should quote in the particulars to include/encompass the standard English guarantee.

    Hope you can assist.
    Regards.

    Can you give us some more information on your communication with the manufacturer please? What have they said on why their 3yr guarantee does not apply?
    "Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )
