this is my first post on this site and I’m looking for some advice in this matter. We are already a fair way down the line in that we were served with an SD from CWD for a debt my partner left in the UAE 9 years ago. She had no contact with anyone including the bank (Mashraq) until a few months ago when she started getting letters from CWD. We have since had a court date and they have said in court that they have a letter from a UAE law expert stating the debt is enforceable in the UK. Since this court date just over a week later we have been offered a vastly reduced settlement figure. We still do t believe the debt is enforceable but would like some advice before moving forward.
