  • Volunteer in the workplace

    I have a volunteer with our company;
    2 directors
    1 PSC
    1 volunteer

    Now the volunteer will be used as a manager of self-employeed people we bring in to fill a specific job (we are an event company) but the legality/rules around volunteers as managers is hazey, and while we do not offer this manager post to any self employed person nor have any other person doing this role, it seems we cant use a volunteer to do it.

    Can anyone provide a legal basis for what a volunteer can and can't do in a for profit company?

    They have no intention/desire/want to be a employee, they just want to volunteer at our events and they have managment experience we can use.
