  • Council tax / Newlyn

I would highly appreciate a reliable legal advice on how I can avoid paying the sum of 553 pounds to Newlyn and a summons fee of 105 pounds to the Council of Kensington & Chelsea , when the original amount I owe the Council is only 136 pounds ( just 20 pounds over a months worth of rent ) .
The council has a note of me contacting them in March 2015 and paying a large sum of 772.22 pounds for the coming year. I moved out of the property in the beginning of Jan and notified the council of the move but they are saying they do not have a note of that . Since I moved in the beginning of jan I owed council a sum of 136.52 pounds all together considering the whole of council tax fees would come up to 908.74 pounds and I had already paid 772.22 pounds back in March 2015. in addition to that I had many issues with the house in December and October including major mice infestation.
The council then summoned me to court with no contact of any form like mail or phone and then sent my file to Newlyn . So they are asking for 770 pounds instead of the original amount of 136 pounds .
Can someone advise me on what I can do please?
