  • Inspection chamber on my property

    Hi all

I've decided to get the front driveway looking respectable and the guys started digging and found an inspection chamber for the old Post Office (that's before it became BT for the younger peeps) and that ties in with this estate being built in the 70's. The cover is only about 18x8 inches, how I never noticed it before I don't know!
This is something that is making matters more awkward and costlier than first agreed. In addition I don't want it as it pushes some sort of liability or duty of care on me possibly.
Looking around some mention that a wayleave agreement should be in place on the deeds but nothing seems to jump out at me.

So, How do I get it off my property is the crux of the matter.

The way leave won't be mentioned on your deeds, the old GPO will/should have a copy which would/should now be held by Openreach.
I suspect that to start with OpenReach will want a fee to come and examine/survey the situation.
If it is then possible to move the cables and inspection chamber,( which might mean neighbours among others losing service for a few days)
you will have to meet the costs!

OK, many tnanks for the replies.

I've just had to tell the workmen doing the drive to stop. Now I have to find someone to do the job correctly.

I'll follow that link and make the enquiry.
