• Parking fine - Gatwick Airport

Hello , I hav just also received a parking fine at gatwick Macdonalds , i didnt see the sign , I did go and buy a burger , sat  there for half an hour , the as i was approaching my car I saw a puddle under the bonnet , I investigated and found a split in my radiator hose pipe . luckily i had some tools in the back of my car , I repaired the damage and went off , two weeks later i received a letter from MET Parking services , showing a photo of my car entering and leaving the premises , they say I overstayed by25minutes . My collegues at work say I dont have to pay the £100 fine or £50 within 14 days , what can i do please , should I send the covering letter by you  Mystery1 member ? , thanks .( Expensive burger)

Hi rks - I have moved your post to a new thread so you will get advice from our knowledgeable Beagles
The first thing you should do is appeal the fine requesting they send a popla code if they reject your appeal. mystery1 is great at these, I'm sure he'll be along soon to help you

      Dear Sirs,

I, as registered keeper, wish to invoke your appeals procedure. The driver was a customer and having returned to his vehicle discovered it was leaking. The driver fixed the problem and left. In any event your charges are penal in nature and not a genuine pre estimate of loss.

I am under no statutory obligation to name the driver and will not do so.

If you reject my appeal please supply a popla code.

      Yours etc.

If they reject the appeal and give a popla code please return for a winning appeal.

Sometimes it's a few days and others a few months. I'd expect within 2 weeks.

They might let you still have the discount but as we expect to take the matter to popla you'll not get the discount then. We do expect to win though which is better than the naff discount.
