Hi Harpjill & welcome to LB

LSC was abolished via LASPO 2012 & replaced with the Legal Aid Agency.

Thanks
I still have a legal aid old debt from 2007 of 8 thousand pounds.
Is this legal aid debt statute barred due to no contact since 2007, no correspondence from either LSC before 2012 and since 2012 from the legal aid agency

Did the Legal Aid Board (as it was known then) take a charge over any property you owned at the time? This question is only relevant if you did own a property obviously.

What was the financial outcome of your divorce agreement? Responsibility/liability for legal costs may have been included.

If solicitors were involved I'm pretty sure that the payment of their bill(s) or any repayment due to Legal Aid would not have gone unnoticed

Yes. A property share proportion was awarded st time of divorce, however, due to share splitting with my ex brother in law for that property as it was a business property held in my experience husbands name , no charge was applied.
I had no other Financial award to me other than maintainene award of £300 per month for rest of lifetime which hasn't been paid to me for 8.5 years.
I was awarded a 47 % share in business property worth of £16000 at present day

An interesting point, Di.

Would the payment be owed (repayable) to the govt (MOJ?) or would it be a 'top-up' payment owed to the sols?

If the latter, s5 Limitation Act would be applicable, yes?

Also it could be an issue re client care?

( Harpjill - is this a 'just in case' type of enquiry, or is someone making 'chasing' noises?)
