Can wife "act" for husband (&vice versa)

Hi all,

This is more out of interest & information than anything.

A minor issue has arisen with a local retailer, which I'm sure we are going to sort out informally.

However, the retailer is all "I know the law, missus!", and is acting as if he is doing us a big favour.

He is wrong (legally, that is!)

The thing is, the receipt is in my "other half's" name, & OH is too busy/can't be bothered to do anything about it.

Have I a legal right to act on OH's behalf? (We are a legally married couple).

I just want to politely point out to Mr Retailer his error..........Oh, all right,then, he got right up my nose with his condescending "what do you know about the law" attitude, & I would like to take him down a peg or six!

Any thoughts, folks?

PS tell them your acting as your wifes 'litigation friend' that will either confuse him or let him know you understand the law + I find the word 'litigation' tends to get their attention

BTW I added my 'sixpennerth' (or should I now say 2 & a half p erth) to the Directive 1999/44/EC issue. Could someone with a wiser head than mine give it the onceover? (OMG, I've highjacked me own thread!!!)
