      Re: Court Case Transcripts

For some court cases transcripts are made available by the court itself so that would be the first port of call. They would only be available in hard copy and they charge by the page but I'm not sure how much.

Typically transcripts are only made available 21 days after judgment in a case has been handed down.

But for others as in all three test case hearings transcripts are only available from Merrill Legal Solutions but are available in various formats at a cost of 40 plus VAT per day.

It sure looks good on you

It rather depends on what you are looking for a transcript of. If you mean a copy of a judgment then I'd suggest that you visit http://www.bailii.org/ where there is a large database of past judgments.

If you mean the transcript of a hearing then you have to first ascertain whether the recording equipment was on. If it was you can request that the tape(s) is/are sent to an authorised member of the Tape Transcription Panel for the Ministry of Justice. In order to request a transcript of a Court hearing, a Transcript Request form (EX107) must be completed and sent to the Court (send a copy to the transcription service so they can liaise with the Court). The EX107 is available here: http://www.avts.co.uk/Pages/Links/AV...be%20EX107.pdf

A transcript is a transcribed and written account of every word uttered in a hearing and not a recording or for that matter a judgment.

All transcripts are written in real time by the transcriber and an audio recording is made in tandem in the case of the transcriber being unable to keep up or that a party to the case queries the accuracy of the transcript.

The recording equipment is always on in a High Court hearing and if it malfunctions during the course of a hearing the court is adjourned until the problem is fixed.

I have been to several hearings in Chancery in the last few years. The recording equipment was only turned on once, at our request. There was NEVER a court reporter.

I was trying to ascertain what the OP was looking for a transcript of. Your comments are not helpful to the OP.
