  • falsifying my expenses - next step

My company to who I work for has began to investage that I have falsified my expenses. I claimed a lunch for a customer which I did not place the order. I have been brought into my bosses office to ask if I did it. I confessed. At this point he advised me to hand my notice in or face formal investigation for gross misconduct. Which would remain on my record. The amount I charged is £110. I have worked for the company for 4.5 years with a clear record.
Should I hand in my notice?
Am I likely to loose my job if I go through the investigation?
Am I expecting to much if I want my holiday pay and to get to work my 4 weeks notice.

I have 2 children I have to provide for. Need to plan after such a stupid mistake

Give your 4 weeks notice, you'll still get your accrued holiday pay entitlement, minus holidays you already taken. But ask your boss for an agreed written reference you can use to help find new employment!! - Oh and offer to pay back the £110 when you ask him about reference!

If you don't resign, your going to be dismissed as what you did wasn't just gross misconduct but fraud, and therefore criminal. So count yourself lucky they didn't report it to the police.

Now am not judging you, as we've all made stupid mistakes of one kind or another, but heres some advice. Next time your faced with a dilemma or feel desperate, think off your two kids before you decide what to do - That way your less likely to make similar stupid mistakes!
