  • Nissan dealer charged us for servicing despite having a service plan

    Hi all,

We bought a Nissan from a local dealer here in Hampshire - had the car for over 2 years so has been serviced twice.

Now we're coming to sell the car, I was going through all the paperwork we were given, and hidden in one of the owners manuals was a letter stating we had 2 "free"/"included" services, under the Nissan care package.

So basically we have paid for the two services that we shouldn't have been.

I called up the dealer and they aren't interested as they are closing down in a few weeks, Nissan UK told me to call the service company and the service company told me to call Nissan UK......argh!

The service company admits we had a service plan, but it has expired now (as its been over 2 years). So they can't help me.

I even called my credit card for advice, and they said they cannot dispute it.

I'm a little bit stuck now! Any advice for me?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

    Matt

What did the credit card company say ? ( assume you tried to claim under s75 ?)

Was the car purchased on finance?

Yes it was purchased on PCP.

Mastercard said that because I had paid for a service, and they had provided a service they are unable to dispute that (this is just what the advisor on the phone said)

Yes fair point by Mastercard I suppose.

Have you got the sale terms which include the service care package ?
Was it an additional cost in the finance ?

Also are there terms in the service care package that these two free services have to be the first two? can the service care package be sold on with the car to the new owner to benefit from ( increasing the price accordingly) ( seems unlikely but might be worth looking at )

It seems it would be Nissan UK's responsibility and if their service centre charged you then Nissan should reimburse you those costs under the care package ? Need the terms really to have an idea.

( on selling the car - have you paid off the PCP ? )

          Thanks for the help Amethyst.

I've attached the letter I found.

The finance agreement doesn't mention a service plan, but if you look at any NIssan finance deal they offer 2 years free servicing.

You have to take the services within the 2 years and can be transferred while active (unfortunately now expired)
