  • Very Trivial Issue for £1.75

This is very trivial but I believe there is a principle involved, I bought tickets via trainline.com when I got to the station to get on the train it had been cancelled & replaced with a coach service part of the way to another station for onward journey. They couldn't guarantee what time I was expected to get to the other end but they were certain it would be after the time for my meeting. I decided not to travel & I cancelled the meeting.

I contacted trainline.com to be told they do not have an online claim form & that I must send the tickets recorded delivery to a PO box in Edinburgh. I did this along with a covering letter detailing the reason I was asking for a refund for the cancelled train along with a request for the additional cost of £1.75 for the recorded delivery.

They have agreed to the train ticket refund but refused the additional cost stating that they only recommend recorded as the tickets have monetary value, which was not what I was told.

As said I know this is very trivial but do I have a legal right to the £1.75, also bearing in mind I have also had to pay £9.75 for parking which I couldn't claim back, also the fuel to get to the station & back.
Sorry i'm just thinking out loud, it might be irrelevant, I am not employed in anyway in the legal profession, please ensure you research any advice I give before using it I have been known to be wrong on multiple occasions.
