  • best way forward with Atos n DWP

Hello to all, I am very much a newbie here as I have just signed up.
Ok my problem is this one out of two, Atos have invited me for yet another apt, bearing in mind I am exempt from attending to due to mental heath issues, they also know of this?
For the last three visits I was sent home in a taxi without even being seen too which was very stressful to say the least as the travel alone was merely half a day gone, nothing to do with me mind apparently no one was there to see me? yet appointments were made so some one should have been there?
For one I cant attend due to ill health, also I'm not in the area and finally I am actually homeless
Like some posts on here I do agree with as I feel the same way regarding a corrupt system to which I do not want to comply too, due to the fact of the last three visits being a non starter and the fact that I'm not supposed to be going where do I stand?
    Thank you

It might be an idea to post a topic on the Unemployment Movement Forum (http://unemploymentmovement.com/forum/recent.html) ... most of the posters on there are well versed in problems with the DWP and Atos etc xx

      hello iriedreadz

sorry to hear of these problems but some details from you would help. what type of atos situation is it, ie you mental health problems stop you from doing which things. is it work capability assessment or something else. why are you exempt, have you called DWP and told them you're exempt.

        Hi Irie

I had a look at unemployment movement forum and they do seem very knowledgeable

Do the DWP think you have a home, I ask because they normally write to you with appointments.

Do do you have a key worker who may be able to help you,?

Why do you believe you are exempt? Is it because you have been given a lifetime award, I know that these are not what they say and they can and do recall people.

If if you have no key worker can you get to a CAB or a welfare rights organisation.

        The very best of luck.

There a numerous things: I have emotionally unstabled personality disorder, my left side of the brain is getting starved of oxygen, constant chronic tinnitus in both ears on top if degenerative lower spine.
They know if all this and on top I know they were designed to lie and screw folk over I just haven't got the fight no more, im totally alone in this world just trying to get by is a struggle relying in my own judgements and the likes.
I am not very good at putting my case across I end up getting stressed out then they see me as distruptive and end interviews etc but I just don't know what too do for best now I mean I'm also homeless which is not helping the cause one bit.
Thank you for the reply 😀

Do you have a key worker or support worker? If not by the sounds of it you should have.

You obvioulsy have many problems but I think you need a physical person to help you hence CAB or worker.

What part of the UK are you in? You definitely need to see social services, and see if you can get help. As a vulnerable person you should be a housing priority.

Irie, what medical evidence do you have for what you say? For example do you have either a report from a GP or a psychiatrist? If you do, call up DWP and ask to be put in contact with a decision-maker. What benefit are you currently on? You clearly have a disability so a reasonable adjustment is to liaise with a decision-maker via writing to their DWP address or you via email. These assessments are very subjective and DWP know this, so they're more about proving you can work than you cannot work.

This is a tough one to say the least but here goes.
Even thou they diagnosed me with EUPD nothing was cemented as far as DWP were concerned, I have still certain paper work outlining what is wrong with me, for 5 years straight I have been so pro active in getting this sorted even down to my back problems, yet to no prevail they just tell me it is degenerative lower spine I feel there is more to it, we all know our own bodies, yet no one is listening to me
I have been seen by two different district mental health teams both were not very good to be fair, even saw a psychiatrist every few weeks but that was going no where, I feel with what I'm suffering with no one has the knowledge or understanding of how to deal with me?
I am not painting a good picture of myself here but I am being 100% truthful I can not lie to save my life.
al I ever wanted was that 1st crack at life, also some one who not just listens but understands and is there for me, life is a huge daily struggle as it is without having to deal with my mind as well, life has not been very kind so far but I'm not bitter I feel blessed what will be will be
For the past 20 odd yrs Drs have just been pumping me full of class A drugs, yet it is not even touching the pain there just knocking me for 6 all the time, anti depressant tabs I cant handle either makes me feel worse than I did before I took them, so I decided on not taking any more pills and see how it goes?
So far so good pain wise it is bearable but then it is also sporadic one day could ne fit as a fiddle next I'm laid in bed all day
My Dr as already said not only am I physically unfit for work but also mentally that is my Dr initials after his name unlike this plastic ones that work for Atos who probably spend a day on wiki for there info?
Right now I am up the creek without a paddle so to speak not knowing who to trust as well is a big thing,
well said enough for now ty for listening.

Thank you Dreadz for answering some of the information I requested.

Your condition is formally called BPD or Borderline Personality Disorder. What DWP benefits are you currently getting? When was the last time you worked and how long did this employment last? What is your usual employment, ie employ that you're qualified to do or would do if you were not sick. Before this last ATOS request for Work Capability Assessment, how long ago was it that they contacted you? I can't help you if you don't answer my questions. Am trying to help you.
