  • JSA (contribution Based)

Hi, after nearly 4 years of being a stay at home dad, I am looking for employment. I have filled in a form CF411a for carers protection for NIC's. I hope to got at least 3 years claimed.

I have applied for JSA today online as I am now actively seeking work. Been told one thing on the phone by asa helping thingy, spent about 90 mins filling in online form and submitted it.

I have around 23 years worth of contributions as have checked with HMRC.

My wife is a teacher (earns in excess of 30k) but ..this has just covered bills. I need dental work and obviously have to pay as i am not entitled to anything previously as was a stay at home dad.

Can I get JSA or is it a waste of time even applying? I know its not a lot but the money would just go on help towards bills. (i have given up alcohol as not working..)
