HMRC Help - Tax Return from 2005/6

HMRC are taking £500 per month out of a friends salary through an attachment of earnings. They say she owes £6000.

They're claiming she didn't file a tax return but she is adamant she did. She didn't work in that year and so didn't earn anything so is struggling to understand where £6000 is coming from.

She has an appointment tomorrow with someone to discuss it. The £500 per month is putting her in financial hardship.
Where does she stand / what can she do?
