  • Old Debt

I got into a lot of debt when I was younger and was given credit I couldn’t afford and then the amounts I owed spiralled as I couldn’t pay them back. Ended up over £32k over 8 creditors. I started to pay them all back £1 a month and over time have increased the amount . One went to a CCJ when I moved house. I’ve managed to pay off three of creditors and over £12k in total but still have just under £20K. I was determined to pay them all of as it was my mess but now I’m really angry that they allowed me to get into that situation.

My credit has been good over the last eight years and I’ve managed to get cards etc to build my credit and also now have a car in finance. I’m looking to buy a home instead of renting and need to know how this will affect it.

I have 2 debts with moorcroft - £5k and £3k Wescot £2, Capquest £4K and I have sent these requests for CCAs.

The one that was a CCJ seems different - they’ve never wrote to me with a settlement offer etc. This is with Blake Morgan.

    Qs

If they don’t write back with CCA could I just ignore it and stop making payments? If so, what are the repercussions?

If they do write back should I make them settlement offers and if so, what %?

The Blake Morgan one - is it worth doing a CCA with that? I’m sure the court checked they had an agreement??

Could any of these still be affecting my current credit score in any way or stop me getting a mortgage?

    thank you
