Only bailiffs have any powers to visit you and they need a court order to act on. If anyone else turns up at your house refuse to speak to them because they are just chancing that they can intimidate you into paying. Sometimes these people do turn up but its rare, and despite the dozens of threats of home visits I've had over years, noone has ever called. There's a firm called Scotcall that are always threatening to visit, and they're known on the forums as 'NotCall'.

Hi Kafka, Oh no not had anyone turn up at the house, just saying, got myself so worked up over all this, everytime the door knocks or a car pulls up. These people have no idea how they make you feel. I'm hoping it will be okay, now i have followed all the steps you folk have given me & sent everything off yesterday recorded delivery. There was something i thought of last night, dont any of these companies ever take a look on here and see what people are saying & doing, and see these template letters. i'm sure they must. But your all helping me a great deal at moment, i thank you for that. x

Do not get into a state about the likes of Snotcall. Knowledge is power. DCAs have no LEGAL powers whatsoever. If they do send someone to your door remember that they have no legal right to be there. Either do not answer the door or just go to it and tell them to F Off. If they don't phone your local police an report a breach of the peace

You can check on the RoyalMail site to see if they have been delivered, however, I doubt you'll hear from them this week, Arrow are debt purchasers and won't have the documents, they'll have to go back to the original creditor who may not have them either. The good thing is that they can't take action whilst they are in default of your s.78 request so just relax for now

With those catalogue companies, the chances of there being an agreement are very slim indeed!

DON'T RUSH to offer any repayment plan, that will only reset the SBd clock! Not a good idea when you're more than halfway through! :clock:

Let's see what their reply is, bear in mind debt purchasers have no idea what paperwork may be available on the account, they are counting on people not to make this sort of enquiry. You really need to relax, because I really doubt they will respond even in 14 days, debt purchasers always have to go back to the OC and that takes time.

Dippydoo you are wrong in thinking these companies don't know how these kind of letters affect us. The low life that work for these companies work on commission and get very 'specialist' training to come across as intimidating as possible - its their job . So many of us on this forum are graduates from the 'school of hard knocks'. I personally have had a small rain forest of threat-o-matic letters in my time. These days when I receive one it amuses me! Stay strong, you are amungst friends.

Sometimes creditors just employ a debt collector to do the dirty work for them. At some point they may decide to sell it, usually for pennies in the pound, and write off the rest as a tax loss. Arrow are debt purchasers rather than debt collectors ---> http://www.arrowglobal.net/services/...solutions.aspx

If you are interested in finding out more about the different types of debt assignment, see this thread ---> http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...0627#post70627
