  • CAPQUEST help needed

    Good evening,

    Situation:

Received a letter from Capquest/ Arrow Global back in April stating that they had bought a debt off Argos for £1200, they say that an Argos credit card was defaulted in 2017. I responded to this letter with a 'prove it' letter and denied all acknowledgement.

4 weeks later I receive another letter with photocopied statements regarding this credit, every single one has my name first and second name, but the wrong address. I have never lived at the address on these statements and I can prove where I was living at the time. The signed agreement however was not provided.

I claim identity theft and ask them to provide further proof in the form of signed agreements, they respond with a letter claiming they have checked these details and the card was taken out by myself yet continue to provide no evidence of this.

I sent a further email explaining that I will take them to court, I have no idea what this debt is from and have never shopped or been to neither the address or the argos that the purchases were made, I have been a victim of identity theft or phishing, this letter was sent 3 weeks ago and I have yet to have a response.

Capquest have continued to add the default onto my credit score which has had a severe impact on an otherwise perfect score my entire life.

I have submitted a report on
    www.actionfraud.police.uk
    however received an email

"You have indicated within your report that the misuse of your personal details or that of a company trading style played a part in the matter you are reporting. The use of another person’s identity, often referred to as identity theft, is not a police recordable crime. Where the details are used to obtain goods or services, we can only record a crime on behalf of the person or organisation which was defrauded as a result of the misuse of an identity."

What can I do next, who should I contact?
