I've just found out HSBC have issued 2 defaults, one on my old bank account and one on my old credit card.
I have moved house 6 times in 4 years and forgot to change my address with HSBC.
I wrote to HSBC advising them of my dissatisfaction and asked for them to advise the reasons for the default. They called me back and told me they had been sending me letters to an address I lived at 4 years ago which was never forwarded to me.
Both outstanding balances are fully settled and I'm trying to obtain a mortgage and these defaults are causing me problems.
I requested copies of the letters but they could not find any copy letters for the credit card only the bank account. On the basis they cannot provide a copy of what was sent, can I request the default be removed?
I attach the 2nd page of the letter and am confused by paragraph 4 and 5. The default was issued on 12th may 2011 and referred to metropolitan collections on 12th September 2012?!?!?!?!? 16 months between default and revering to collections?
many thanks for any advice in advance.
