Hi all,
I defaulted on a loan 5 years ago with welcome finance, my last payment is next month. Equifax has sent me a change to credit file email, when I checked I saw that Welcome finance has deleted the account entry for my old address and have created a new entry showing the same default information/file to my new address.
Firstly can they do this? now when a company searches my file welcome finance default is at the top of the list now and to me is damaging, secondly surely the default has to be logged at my previous address as that's were I defaulted.
I today contacted welcome and they told me they were in their rights to change and that the default has to follow me to my new address and that's why they have done this, i replied it does follow me because its still on my file until next year.
Any info is much appreciated.
