I have recently noticed a default on my Experian report from JC International Acquisition LLC for £110. It relates to a cancelled car insurance policy from Budget Insurance in May 2022.
The first communication from JCIA states that they have been assigned the debt and that a default has already been applied by them. They have not provided any notice whatsoever on their intention to report a default to the CRA's.
It appears that Budget Insurance has provided a 14 day default notice, however Budget Insurance is not the company applying a default on my credit report.
I wonder how it is acceptable and legal for JCIA to apply a default to CRA without giving the consumer any notice period from themselves? It seems like JCIA are taking advantage of their ability to escalate purchased debts immediately to a default on credit report in-order to get debts paid quickly.
