Well, there I was on the fixed rate till August 2010, the fix and fall tariff having been done away with cos it was costing BG too much money. Anyway, when the price of gas fell in Feb, i just thought hey-ho, looks like I'll just have to grin and bear it. But when they then announced yesterday that electricity prices are being reduced by 10%, I sprang into action.
Phoned BG, got hold of a lovely bloke, explained situation. he said it would cost me a £35 cancellation fee for each fuel, ie 70 quid. As a 10% reduction on my elec payments alone (I pay 88 per month) would save me about 120 I said I'd go for it anyway. The lovely bloke then said he'd credit £60 onto my bill to offset the cancellation charges! Might be because I also have BG Homecare etc, but anyway, between the two fuels I'll defintely be quids in, and if I continue the dd's at the same rate I'm paying now, I'll catch up quicker with the debit on the accounts.
So full marks to British Gas - I love them!
It just shows that if you don't ask, you don't get!
