HIGH STREET stores are offering the biggest-ever pre-Christmas bargains in a desperate bid to beat the recession.
Cash-rich shoppers can save hundreds of pounds today as a host of sales start earlier than ever... Debenhams are offering 60 per cent off furniture while Laura Ashley, Homebase and Sofa Workshop are all lowering prices.
John Lewis - which traditionally doesn't cut prices before Christmas - is giving £50 off if you buy a washing maching and tumble dryer. WH Smith are slashing top-selling books by up to 60 per cent.
A Black and Decker drill set has been hammered down from £70 to £35 at B&Q. Currys are selling a 32in digital TV for £599 from £750 and Woolworths have cut a Playmobil police boat from £19.99 to £9.99.
Thats it then Off to John lewis for my wifes present. LOL whilst I still have my genitals intact.

Re: Credit Crunch Christmas (25 days)

Chirtsmas is coming, the bills are growing large,
We're all using credit, with no thought for hidden charge.
Christmas is coming, there's so much more to get
Every-one is spending, so let's take on some debt.
Christmas is over, nothing more to celebrate
Just a lot of growing credit and some heavies at the gate.

The average adult spends £863 extra at christmas.

              Food & Drinks £163
              Giftwrap, cards and postage £53
              Christmas tree and Decorations £64
Socialising (dinner, theatre, cinema, panto etc) £121
              Travel £84
              Presents £378

              A typical story......

'One year, when I was working at a restaurant, I borrowed some money and went mad at Christmas buying my daughter everything she wanted. It took nearly seven months to pay for it all. In the end I couldn't afford to take her anywhere on holiday the next summer. Most of the presents ended up gathering dust under the bed'

I got my 10 year old niece some Harry Potter audio books as she already has a couple and gets lots out of them.

I got the 6 year old a drum kit on a bit of an impulse purchase. But Mum & Dad seem ok about it!

Right well, I bought my first xmas present today for my daughter
It was a camera that was reduced from £50 to 335, so snapped it up

I do this throughout the year, try to buy little bits when i see them in the sales and by oct everything is sorted at a lot less cost too

I've got my cards, wrapping paper and tags for our friends and family. Have also got enough cards left over for our business contacts, just need to get this 2010 wall-planners printed and thats another job sorted.
Will print off the address labels and put stamps on in August ready for posting on Dec 1st.
Am buying £50 gift vouchers every month for pressies.
