  • Loan against insurance policy

Hi all Im new to the forum so dont know is this is in the corect place , Im sure a moderator will move it if it isnt

The details are as follows , in 1990 we took out a loan against an endowment that we had taken out 11 years previously , the loan was for £3000 , as far as I can recollect we had the option to pay of in instalments or agree to the final figure being reduced .

After we got the loan we heard nothing from the company so just continued with the payments via direct debit .

Then about 3 years ago we started to get letters from Northern Rock saying that we owed them money , as the letters were addressed to us with my maiden name on the correspondence we jgnored them as we had long since sold the property that the endowment covered and the loan from the insurers Im sure was in my married name . We had also moved in the interim and We assumed that the letters were a scam .

However NR have sent letters saying all sorts of weird things like that we owe them £4000+ and that they will stop our policy and make it paid up , none of the letters that have been sent have ever been sent anything other than normal mail .

Now here is the crux , the policy finishes in 2 weeks and we are assuming we will get a pay out , but what do we do . This loan was taken 15 years ago and there has never been any correspondence from the insurers . Does anyone know if it Will it be statute barred after all this time .
