Re: Marstons and Liverpool city Council

And here we go again, TNT just delivered (22/09/14) from Equita 14 notices of enforcement for non payment of council tax dating from 2009 to 2014, totalling
    £12,125.58
Seems to me, the council departments still do not talk to each other, not messing this time, it is really upsetting Jules, council CEO,MP and Liverpool echo are all getting the story, I want blood

Re: Marstons and Liverpool city Council

I have just read back on this thread (and also your posts on 'pistonheads' forum and from what I can gather there were Liability Order for council debt going back 7, 9 and 11 years to Liverpool Council and the payments were 'apparently' being paid by your partners ex (who had a gambling problem). In reality, the payments were not being made and your partner received a bailiff visit last year from Marston Group.

Following on from the bailiff visit your partner received a surprise visit at her home from a representative from the council who apologised for sending the debts to Marston group and confirmed that the debts had all been taken back in house.

You say that your partner has been paying £200 per month for over 5 years and that this arrangement had been agreed 'over the phone' and that it was your partner's understanding that this payment was to be allocated towards the arrears AND to her current council tax and that instead, the payment of £200 had NOT be allocated towards her current council tax and instead had been allocated solely towards the arrears.

Since the accounts were all returned back to the council in July 2013 we have not heard back from you until today.

I am very concerned to see that Equita have been instructed on 14 different cases.

By the way, the Compliance fee of £75 each is correct.

Your partner needs to get to the bottom of all this and the starting point has to be with the local authority.

Milo, yup, pretty much sums it up, Jules is going to speak to her MP first as he has direct access to the council CEO who would just ignore us if we went direct ( she is doing that this afternoon) we see no point ringing the council as we will just be told ' we are the council, do as we tell you'
I know that the £75 is legal and I know that there is no 12k+ debt, despite this Jules is frightened (believe me the things she used to do she should not be) she feels humiliated and is embarrassed

would a recorded letter to equita stating a refusal to deal with them and we will only deal with the council be in order ??

Thanks in advance for the great support and advice from all on here

If the account/debt is in dispute all enforcement action should be put on hold while any appeal is being dealt with
