Re: You can't ignore parking fines, can you?
Problem is Capita AKA TV licensing harass people who don't own a TV, with threatening mail, etc etc and have prosecuted people for no tv license even though they don't own a TV as a result of the "Doorstep interview by the TVL capita salesman under caution" where they got so confused they admitted to watching the non existent TV to get rid of him.
Parking Eye have dodgy cameras that only show a first and last entry so have "Invoiced" taxi drivers for an overstay in a free car park who are in and out of a car park at a mall many times daily. Duh sorry PE free car park = £0 consequential loss, so your Invoice is an unlawful civil penalty, so unenforceable.

Which rules are you referring to? The self imposed ones by the Private Parking companies or the ones set by parliament and when you say "the rest of us follow" who are "the rest of us"Originally posted by GO84 View PostNever understood why people say that about people who break the rules the rest of us follow.

Who cares if he has good luck to him I sayOriginally posted by GO84 View PostI don't think he (61shirley - the youtube bloke) was doing it because of the money issue. He seemed convinced that it was really wrong to pay for parking or a TV licence. I couldn't understand why he thought some really old laws would be able to prove his innocence. I admit I've not studied law so there's probably a lot I do not know. But I found it hard to believe you could get out of official fines and charges without a real likelihood of losing in the end (he seems to think he's totally gotten away with it)

I thought legal and lawful meant the same thing and I would have thought the government's determination to get any bit of cash it could from people would stop him. My dad always told me do not mess with the taxman (yes, I know this wasn't a tax question)Originally posted by Somecamel View PostThis is Legalbeagles not Lawfulbeagles so I don't want to be backed into a corner spouting FMOTL stuff. The point is and going back to your original question yes he can do this, what's stopping him?

We agree
A lot of people looking at the Freeman View see it as a way to just get away with paying your debts.
There are a growing number of people of a more 'intelligent nature'? looking into these methods so don't write them off.

It's called Civil Disobedience- kind of ties in with your original question

Re: You can't ignore parking fines, can you?
That sums up how I feel about protesters. Some of them are have a reasonable argument and are smart, but quite a lot of them don't come across too well, just spouting out cliches, not showing much understanding and getting carried away and making a nuisance of themselves and not really achieving much. It's like with Thatcher's funeral, the irony was because they expected people to protest about it, they spent even more taxpayers money on security. Personally I respect the average copper more than the average protester.Originally posted by Somecamel View PostSo you've done more than just look at the more un-intelligent anti government videos
