I will not pay the courts one penny.

                  I am right.

                  Eny ideas.

                  ****ed off,gave them
                  Date/time in custody,police station etc.
Letter signed by manager of Salvation army of dates i was there.
                  Documents outlining health.
Just one phone call to police station would sort it out Time PCN was issued/time in custody,so easy.

Whilst in custody a police officer parked my hire car.
When i was released officer told me where the car was.

OK, let's go right back to the start here. This is what you stated in Post 1.

You were driving the hire car.

                    1. Why did the police stop you?

                    2. Can you expand fully on your statement, "the situation escalated" please?

                    3. Possibly irrelevant, but did the police officer who parked your car also drive it back to the station?

                    4. Have you shown PTom's policy quotation about not being liable for tickets while in custody (can't remember exact wording) to your council, and asked if they have a similar policy? If not, you should!

If you can answer these, it would be great. I am not optimistic that you'll be able to avoid paying though unfortunately. Maybe someone else will come along and see something I can't.

Sleepyhead - I am so, so sorry. I was completely confident that you would be exonerated. This is wrong and there must be a way around it, there must:hug:

That does seem very simple and easy - why doesn't it wash? (question for the experts here) - I'm with SH and don't understand why - whatever his arrest was for - he should be liable for a policeman parking his car in a penalty area.

I agree it is not right and am frustrated I can't see an obvious way around it. It is perfectly possible I'm missing something or there's something I don't know which would get the OP off the hook.

In answer to your question Miss FM, parking tickets are issued to the Registered Keeper of the vehicle, in this case the hire car company. The OP would have signed an agreement which stated they were liable for any traffic offences relating to the vehicle while under his hire. Thus the parking ticket would have been issued to the hire car company, who in turn would have passed it to the OP.

A few things spring to my mind, but without further thought, I would not wish to raise them here. It could also get to the stage where it is simply not economically viable to argue the point over the amount fined, as costs incurred in doing so would be even higher.

So where do i go from here.?
Labman is right the costs of taking further action will eventualy incure more costs.

I need to find out reasons why it was dismissed.

I assume it could only be exceeding time limit for appeal..

Or maybe sit on council roof prtesting my innocence.

If it was a numpty of a police officer who parked the hire vehicle in a penalty area knowing that to be so, it raises questions about the officer's actions and motives. This needs to be pursued with the numpty's Superintendent.
