  • End of Tenancy Clean

    Hello,

I’m hoping someone can give me some advice. I instructed a cleaning company (recommended by the letting agent) to conduct a full end of tenancy clean.

The clean was conducted on the day I was moving out (Friday) and due to social distancing I left keys for the cleaner and returned after the had finished to collect and check the work.*

I was unsatisfied with the work carried out and took photos of the issues seen and contacted the cleaning company owner who apologised and said she used a new cleaner and she would return the next day to rectify.

The following day (Saturday) she asked if I could drop the keys off which is did then an hour later told me she didn’t have time to do the clean and could she conduct on the Monday (after I was due to hand the keys to the property back to the agent).

After discussing with the letting agent they agreed to give her the keys to re clean before the check out clerk did their inventory later that day (Monday)

I received the check out report on the Friday following the clean where the agent stated a basic domestic clean had been conducted and none of the issues had been rectified.

I am now having to pay for a further clan but another company as the property owner (who has now moved back in) refuses to let the original company come back and clean.

I have asked for a refund as I don’t see why I should pay double the cost for the cleaning company not doing the job I paid for only to be told that she accepts not responsibility at all and basically tough, thanks for your money I won’t be giving you a penny back.

Where do I stand with taking her to small claims court?

Is this considered a breach of the Consumer Rights Act for reasonable care and skill?

Help please I really can’t afford to be paying a cleaning fee twice.

    Thank you
