I took a mobile phone contract out in 2010 for a friend at the time. This account then was defaulted without my knowledge as I had passed everything over to that individual. They paid it from their account, was transferred to their name (or so I thought) and the address was her address etc. Basically I knew nothing more about it until I received a letter from Lowell saying that some £700 odd was outstanding. The person I took this out for has not provided me with anything to show that this was paid.
My question is that as I now live in Northern Ireland what enforcement powers do Lowell actually have to pursue this?
I have been on the phone to them numerous times and am getting nowhere.
As I did not accrue this debt I have no intentions of paying this and don't know where to go next as the person who I took this out for claimed that this was paid in full.
Any advice is appreciated.
