A couple of years ago I changed my gas & electricity provider from British Gas. I never got a final bill from them but then got reminders to pay. I telephoned them (recorded) to ask them for a bill which they insisted had been sent. I told them I hadn't received any and could they send a copy by recorded delivery. The assured me that they would.
I have never received that bill to date but have continued to receive chasing letters for the alleged debt (by different company's despite informing them the account was in dispute).
I now have noticed today when checking my credit file that they have put a default on there!
Any advice of what my next step should be would be most welcome.
