A family member signed a contract with a paralegal firm for a will & power of attorney (£400) and they talked them into taking a Probate service and a Trust (£3,700). Sadly our family member died before the draft will & power of attorneys could be signed, and before any Trust paperwork was received to even review before signing.
Nothing was put in place.
Because of our insistence, the company offered a teeny refund of £1,300 – we requested more as no service was in place. Now they say the work was done (it absolutely wasn’t received) and refuse to give any refund at all.
Doesn't seem worth pursuing in small claims sadly, but we have discovered the way they are set up is not above board. They say a third party Solicitor writes all the papers but they were the legal entity that set the Solicitors up in the first place. All the proof is online at Companies House. Recently they conveniently discharged their association, and conveniently changed their name - to avoid being sued by people perhaps? ☹.
Trustpilot shows there are other claimants. Is there anywhere we can report them to, to stop them from continually doing this They say they are registered with the FCA.
Thanks very much for any advice.
