  • Procedural Issues with Dartford Crossing PCN's

I have accumulated 4 PCN's back in early September 2021 for the Dartford river crossing which in terms of time and journeys are correct.
At the time of the PCN's being generated I believed that I had a payment method set up where each time I crossed my bank account was debited.
Back in July 2021 I made a crossing and return trip the payment method failed as my card had expired, I received the standard postal notification and contacted them to set up a new direct debit account and paid the outstanding crossing fees, I received no further communication in respect of this crossing.
Looking at bank statements from July 2021 I noticed that no money had actually been taken from my account for this crossing, checking through later bank statements I noticed a charge was made at the back end of September 2021 when no journey was made, the Dart web site shows a payment taken on the 21 September 2021 but no crossing in the previous 48/72 hrs were done.
I'm now in the position that a number of crossing have been made and debit for a two way crossing has been made on my account which relates to no crossing
So what crossing does the charge relate to, if it is the first (July 2021) which I believe as there were no follow up letters of any sort, how come no Dart changes were made against me in early September if I had an account set up.
Looking for advice on how to make a appeal to the TEC for the 4 PCN's based upon the above circumstances.
