I am the sole inheritor of the beneficial of a trust in land. I am eager to obtain the freehold, however there are some unusual factors.
1. The freeholder is unknown.
2. The original lease dates back to 1809 and the lease was to run for 286 years ie expires in 2195.
3. There is no mention of ground rent or an=y charges anywhere in the documentation.
4. The trustees have naturally changed over the years and the last fully documented change to trustees was in 1975.
5. The last remaining trustee died in March 2021 without appointing anyone. So there are now no trustees in place.
6. The son of the last surviving trustee is alive.
7. The leasehold is registered with HM Land Registry.
8. I have held the beneficial interest in the trust since 2004. The land has 3 temporary buildings which I rent out hence I can therefor demonstrate continued occupancy.
