I have just moved into a flat (Scotland). Upper left in a four in a block/cottage flat. It is a rental but plan on being here for a long time. The back garden is shared with the downstairs neighbour. and is fenced off from the other two flats on the opposite end of the block. The landlord advised me the front garden is owned by the downstairs neighbour and the back garden is halved directly down the middle - the left to me and the right to the downstairs neighbour. I asked the landlord if he would mind me erecting a small fence down the centre of the back garden if it is indeed halved legally. The landlord has no issue with this but advised I have to look into things myself and also consult with the neighbour. I have bought a copy of the title documents and when looking at the plan the left side of the back garden all the way to the front garden fence (small patch of grass to the left of entrance/footpath/steps) is highlighted in pink. Where as the front garden (right of footpath/entrance/steps) and right side of the back garden are not any colour - this is obvious to me that the pink areas are my parts of the gardens - the registers of scotland details this as ''PINK - exclusive ground or drying green'' the pink area is also surrounded with a broken line border like the lines on the middle of a road. What exactly does this mean. There is nothing on the title documents going into detail about the garden and explaining exactly what the pink or lined area means. Am I right in thinking that I am free to put a fence up along the middle of the back garden where the pink ends? When looking at other gardens in area they have fitted a fence to separate boundaries.
any advice would be appreciated,
